UPDATE: Haystax Technology was awarded 2nd runner-up for the Michael Dean Best Paper Award at STIDS 2014. The award recognizes innovativeness and domain thought leadership that advances the state of the art for semantic technologies. Details about the award can be found by clicking on the following link: http://stids.c4i.gmu.edu/award2014.php The conference proceedings can also be downloaded from the following link: http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1304/   Mclean, VA, November 14, 2014 –Haystax Technology, a leader in next-generation analytics and mission critical cybersecurity will be presenting a paper on the application of real-time Bayesian networks for insider threat detection and management of dynamic trust at the 9th International Conference on Semantic Technologies for Intelligence, Defense, and Security (STIDS 2014) to be held from November 18-21 in Fairfax, Virginia. Haystax was an early pioneer in the use of sophisticated analytic techniques for enterprise threat management. The paper, titled Processing Events in Probabilistic Risk Assessment provides a smarter analytic approach to continuous risk monitoring as an alternative to current (mostly ineffective) brute-force rules based systems. The paper examines the application of a risk based approach to threat detection through insider threat detection use cases that include both infrequent (public records monitoring) and frequent (computer network monitoring) events. The techniques discussed in the paper have proven to be highly effective in environments where human resources are overwhelmed in high noise-to-signal data environments. The paper will be available as part of the conference proceedings. STIDS provides a forum for academia, government and industry to share the latest research on semantic technology for defense, intelligence and security applications.
