KGBT-TV, CBS channel 4 in McAllen, TX, reports that McAllen Independent School District (ISD) has implemented Haystax’ School Safety software to monitor the safety of its students. With the growing popularity of social media, McAllen ISD police have turned to Haystax’ software to help them monitor social networks for possible threats or security breaches at district schools. “That is more our focus than anything else – to go out and prevent things from happening rather than just be reactive,” said McAllen ISD Police Department Captain Joey Silva, who also noted that the software from Haystax has already prevented some smaller-scale incidents at schools. McAllen ISD police aren’t looking at every student’s social profile. Rather, they are keying in on threatening ‘buzzwords’ and sharing that information with investigators. This allows them to get ahead of the game and neutralize any threats. Please click this link to read the full story and see an interview with Cpt. Silva
